The Worst Life Hacks of 2017

We’ve chosen top things that failed to achieve their tasks. The creators of those life hacks thought that their products will blow the market, but as the experience showed us they were a total disaster. Unsuccessful and strange products appear in the technology world regularly. But, it seems, the outgoing year was full of such things.

Cheerios Seed Packet

Did you hear about it? Their aim was to bring bees back. Cheerios created and distributed packets filled with invasive species, they include Forget-Me-Nots, must mention that these weeds are banned in two states. As the investigation brought out into the open that the packets contained just less dangerous plant, however, the Cheerios knew nothing about it during the distribution process.

What did it teach us, and the Cheerios in the first place, that natural world is a very complicated system and human beings discovered only a tiny part of it, and I you want to dive into the world of nature make sure you know for 100% what you are doing.

Individually Packaged Chipotle Ingredients

A designer Josh Williams became very popular for his request to Chipotle staff. He asked them to pack each ingredient of his order separately. His explanation was that he wanted to mix it all by himself at home. Some may say he is weird, the others that he's brilliant, but there are people who wrote in his Tweet that Josh is just an asshole.

BuzzFeed's wrote that they do it all the time. You can choose who to defend Josh Williams or Chipotle staff, but if the so-called "hacks" makes someone work more than it is needed to tip them heavily, but politely.

Equifax’s Data Breach “Solutions”

Do you want to hear how to mess up with the situation that has already been coming to nothing? The worst data breach in history was taken by Credit reporting agency Equifax, but they managed to make it even worse. How come?

They created a site that supposed to allow users to check whether their data was breached, however, the site gave very confusing outcomes. The address of the site was equifaxsecurity2017.com, a URL sounded so unofficial that Equifax’s Twitter account by chance linked to securityequifax2017.com, the fake site.

iOS 11 not the best decision of Apple

There is no wonder that we always try to follow all the notification to make our phone work better, faster, and be more innovative. To maintain your device you have to update its software. Updates fix the previous problems with security, bugs flaws, they improve hardware capabilities and present new features to make our usage more convenient. We know that every big update has its own disadvantages and bugs, maybe even some things that require time to get used to. But, the rest of the features are good solutions.

Unfortunately, iOS 11 wasn’t a good idea at all. Many users wanted to get back to iOS 10, but it was impossible. Apple has removed some features in iOS 11. When Apple has released a new version of its operating system iOS 11, there were lacks the previously announced functions. As The Verge reported, these functions will appear in the following updates. This is the function of Apple Pay Cash, which allows you to send money to other users through iMessage. In addition, iOS 11 doesn’t have the option which allows synchronizing iMessage messages via the iCloud service.

Amazon Key- leave your house open for them

Sometimes you have to get the package delivered to your house, but you are not home. Of course, you can arrange it to be delivered to your workplace or grab things at local UPS location. Amazon came up with the "smart solution" they offer you to install a smart lock and camera inside of your house that will record your home all the time.

Amazon's solution wants you to provide them with the ability to unlock your house and look inside of it. It seems like a real advantage as it keeps you from getting packages on your threshold, but maybe it would be easier for them to sell a lockable box that is supposed to be outside your home?

Unroll.me – nothing is free, everything has its price

Unroll.me is popular service which gives you an opportunity to get rid of spam and unsubscribe from email newsletters. However, they have been caught in selling personal data of their users to Uber. It shows us again that free service takes its price even though we can't see it.

Clean Eating- Do they even know what it is?

Have you ever heard about clean eating? The people who promote it didn't even decide what the definition of this notion is. What you should remember is that their diet can't be effective, as clean eating can improve your health only if you change your lifestyle.

Be aware of what you’re buying, and don’t get trapped by loud words. I wish you to have less of unsuccessful life-hacks in 2018, and remember that no matter what the majority says, choose your own way.
